If you have been following us you received the introduction to my Black Excellence, decorating series and the 1st installment, The Glamourous Life. I would like to note that a lighted mirror can be costly. Initially I was going to build one from scratch but I came up with a more cost effective approach bonus no electrical skills needed. Let’s down to business!
Things you need
A decorative frame. preferably something that has was a piece of art with a mat board. I got mine from Goodwill for $5.99!
A mirror that is smaller than your decorative frame. Family dollar or your local 99 cent store is a good choice.
Dioder cabinet strip lights from Ikea it was on sale for $19.99 but it is usually $29.99 it is bright nice light completely worth it.
Duct tape or Gaffer’s Tape.
*NOTE* you will be working with glass and a knife remember safety 1st!
I love the details!
Use your knife and cut the back of the frame to remove the mat board.
Position your mirror and attach to the mat board with strong adhesive (Duct tape, hot glue Super 77 etc.).
Place your mirrored board back into the frame. Take your lights, line them up along the edges of the mirror and adhere to the mat board. Dioder lights come with a small strip of double sided tape and metal brackets. Weave the wires under the frame. Seal the edges with duct tape. You may also use tape to stream line some of the wires in the back of the frame.
I added pearls to fill in the gap between the lights.
Hang it above your bar and enjoy!
Next week I will post my “Lady Sings The Blues” Chair!
