Last Minute Homemade Face Paint

I didn’t want to spend any more money but I wanted to have a good costume for Halloween.  In a last minute decision I decided to be Harley Quinn.  Harley Quinn is the love interest/sidekick of The Joker from Batman the Animated series.  She is also good friends with Poison Ivy.

Ironically, all the stuff I needed I happened to have in the house! Only thing I bought was face paint but a part of me believed the paint wasn’t going to be enough so what does some one do in this situation? Make your own!

What you need

small container(s) one for each color.

1/2 tablespoon corn starch

1/4 tablespoon of flour (Optional but it makes the base whiter)

1 tablespoon of lotion/cold cream/moisturizer *note* if your lotion is watery you need less water more corn starch and vice versa.

Food coloring any color

Water (as needed)

*Bonus* I added a little bit of melted shea butter (about 1/2 teaspoon)  might as well moisturize while you are creeping people out.

This is a “as much as you need” recipe increase the amounts as needed but keep the ratio the same.

Add lotion to small containers, one container for each color of paint you want to make. Slowly add corn starch (and flour) to the containers until you reach the desired consistency.  Add more corn starch for a pastier paint and less (or add water) for a more pliable paint texture.
Now you have your base. To make colors put some of your base to the side, just add food coloring and mix well!

When you are painting try to “build up” on layers (paint let dry then paint some more).

Slowly add one drop at a time until you reach your desired shade.

Mix well after each drop to see what color it is.

That is it! Have fun. Happy Halloween!
