Mixtapes. They make the world go round. Remember when everything was worthy of a mixtape? New love? Mixtape. Break up? Mixtape. New job? Mixtape? Unemployed? Mixtape. Now we have playlist since no one has tapes any more but we still say mixtape, go figure. What better way to get your DIY on than to break it down to some good tunes. 80s pop rock and 90s hip hop are favorites of mine, it really gets my creative juices flowing. Here are a few gems from the perfect DIY mixtape.
I Want To Thank You (Heavenly Father) by Alicia Myers.
Nothing says do it yourself like a “thank God I finally have a man,” love song that can double up as a Gospel song. This disco hit is good to shimmy to while you are apply glitter to… everything. It is also the same feeling I get when there is a sale at the craft store.
Get Into The Groove by Madonna.
I am an 80s baby of course Madonna had to make at least one appearance. It is basically self explanatory. Get into the groove of your renovation.
Any fast paced song by Beyonce.
I can’t describe the greatness that Beyonce does for the workflow process but it works, trust me.
Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi
This is one of my favorite songs ever. It is appropriate for almost all occaisions especially when you are dealing with long and arduous crafts. I am looking at you, knitting. When it gets tough just belt out “Ohhhhhh we’re half way there ohhhh oh, livin’ on a prayer!” Show that ball of yarn who’s boss.
Monster by Kanye West, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, and Jay-Z.
You are in the trenches of your project and it is going well but you still need a extra boost of cockiness, arrogance, bravado and swag to get you through. This track brings it. By the way it is rated NSFW.
Feel So Good by Ma$e
You did it! You finished your DIY project. What do you do now? Celebrating with the shiny suit boys of 90s rap is obviously the next step. Well, my next step is to find a better quality version of this video.
Back To Life by Soul II Soul
It has been fun but now it is time to start over with a new pinterest idea. Back to craft, back to reality.
Here is the complete playlist! It is growing so stop by often. 🙂
What are some of your favorite songs you like blast to get you through a tough project?
