What do you do when your friend comes into town? Have brunch! This was no ordinary event it was a BYOB(runch), with “admission” being was chicken and/or a bottle of your favorite spirit. That may not sound too exciting but trust me it was epic. After about 13.5 hours later and 60 people later…
What goes well with chicken? Waffles! I am not sure how this combination was introduced to me but my life has been blessed ever since. In true Do It Yourself fashion we had a waffle bar set up so you can hook your plate up with this culinary phenomenon.
The one secret to this waffle bar was…
Yes “waffle seasoning,” it jazzed up this ordinary waffle mix instantly!
Here is what you need to make your own.
- 1 TBSP of Cinnamon
- 1/2 TBSP of Nutmeg
- 2 TBSP of Brown Sugar
- 1 TBSP of White Sugar
- 1/2 TBSP of Powdered Sugar (Optional)
- 1 TSP of Vanilla Extract
- 1 TSP of Rum Extract
Combine all ingredients in a bowl, mix well and let dry before putting it into a shaker to prevent caking.
You can use this seasoning on top of your waffles or put it directly into your batter. Don’t just limit yourself to waffles, this is great for pancakes and French toast as well! These waffles were great but I have to give my waffle maker some credit. This baby is quick, affordable and super easy to use. I am very shocked it held up during this marathon brunch but it did. We know everyone isn’t delicate with homewares but Hamilton Beach is the truth! Recreate your own brunch by getting your own here.
