If you’ve been paying attention to the exercise tips Yenory, our wellness contributor has given us your workout regimen should be legit by now but what about snack time? You can never have too many snacks and these gluten free crackers are an awesome addition to your arsenal of goodies. Flax seeds are high in fiber, low in carbs, aids weight loss promotes healthy hair and skin! Sounds like a win to us. 

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flaxseed Meal (I like Bob’s Red Mill it is vegan, kosher and paleo friendly)
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 cup Water

Directions

Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

In a large bowl combine flaxseed meal, salt, garlic and onion powders, 1/2 tsp poppy seeds, and 1 tsp sesame seeds. Add water and mix until an even dough forms.

20161118_135156 20161118_135335Spread onto the prepared baking sheet and flatten to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into 1½-inch squares then sprinkle evenly with remaining seeds and garlic or onion flakes, if using.

Bake until crisp and the edges are browned, about 25 – 30 minutes. Let cool completely before dividing and serving. Yields 10 servings. 20161118_143716 20161119_151718

 

You can enjoy these crackers alone or with anything that you would normally eat with crackers try this curry chicken salad for a unique taste.
