Story time! A homie and I are hanging out and I express to him that I have a lot of wine and I want to do something with it. After much deliberation and coming to the realization that drinking straight from the bottle isn’t quite the solution I was looking for it dawned on me… SANGRIA! “That is a good idea yea just throw some fruit in there let it soak and pow your done.” Umm, I think there are more steps to it than that. So I get the googling and I saw many recipes requiring the use of brandy, the catch? I didn’t have any brandy. So, I decided to use vodka instead. This recipe has been tested and it is A.V. approved. This citrus vodka sangria is light and refreshing, great for your next BBQ.
Here is what you need
- 1 Bottle (750 ml) White wine (I used Chardonnay)
- 1/2-1 Cup of plain Vodka
- 2 Whole Oranges, thinly sliced
- 1 Whole Lemon, thinly sliced
- 1 Whole Lime, thinly sliced
- 2oz Triple sec
- 3/4 Cup of simple syrup
- Sparking water
- A splash of sweetened lime juice (optional)
Add sliced fruits to pitcher first then combine wine, vodka, triple sec, simple syrup, sweetened lime juice and stir. Chill for at least 4 hours. Pour into wine glasses and top off with sparkling water. I use my SodaStream to make it extra bubbly! I think this pairs well with jerk chicken but I could be wrong.
*Note* instead of ice you can freeze grapes to keep your drink cold. Now you are fancy… rejoice!
