I can admit that keeping a DIY project “simple” is WAY harder for me than outlandish projects. I am a chronic over do-er. All projects can use more glitter, more glam, more everything! Now that logic doesn’t always work but it is my general rule of thumb. Now this plain bar stool that I scored from a friend needed a makeover. Nothing was wrong it just needed some presence. Pom-poms, tassels, faux fur were all in the running as ideas I entertained to revamp this piece. What ultimately won was paint!
WHAT YOU NEED
A little gold paint goes a long way and it is something I have to have in my crafty arsenal.
Since this stool is raw wood sanding isn’t necessary and I’ve decided to make it into an end table for my lamp sealer isn’t necessary either.
WHAT TO DO
Turn the stool upside down to paint the legs first. Wrap painter’s tape around the legs to mask off where you would like to paint and to create crisp lines. Make the tape is firmly placed on the stool legs to prevent leaking.
Paint two coats on the legs (not the bottom) flip right side up and let dry.
Paint the top of the stool 2-3 coats is suffice.
Once your legs are dry pull the tape off at a 45 degree angle otherwise you run the risk of peeling your paint messing up your beautiful lines!
Now you have a revamped bar stool! So simple, so chic!
What are some simple ways you revamp your furniture?
