Born in the USA

Born in the USA! *Cue Bruce Springsteen* I love to travel: Seeing new places, meeting new people, eating new foods will never get old to me. In 2010 my new year’s resolution was to travel more as an adult. Although I appreciate the family road trips it was time to strike out on my own. Since then I have been able to go on at least one trip each year: Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, Atlanta, San Francisco, DMV (D.C., Virginia, &Maryland) Ghana, London, and Paris. Traveling internationally is always an eye opener but there is much to see and do right here in the good ol’ US of A! Here are highlights from some of my favorite cities.

San Francisco is my 2nd favorite city. “Nu Yaawk, aka the centah of the universe is obviously number one. If you ever get a chance to visit the golden city here are some of my suggestions.

Venture out San Fran has an excellent public transportation system so it is no excuse to not see what this city has to offer.

While you are exploring get some chocolate and ice cream from Ghirardelli factory.

Brunch at Sweet Maple. They have this thing called Millionaire’s Bacon and it is awesome trust me. The bacon is thick cut with brown sugar and maple syrup, then oven baked.

Walk across the Golden gate bridge, you know walk off that bacon you just ate. At the top of the bridge you can virtually see the whole city including Alcatraz.

Speaking of Prisons… this brings me to Las Vegas. As tempting as it sounds don’t do things that will lead to jail time. Although the City of Sin does allow you to drink alcohol openly in street I think you should get a flask, keep it classy.

I don’t know who this man is but I was Nicki Minaj. It’s going down..basement.

In the midst of your mischievous behaviors I recommend checking out a show Cirque du Soliel, Showgirls or any Broadway production is a good choice. If you wait until you get there you may be able get a good rate for a last minute show!

This is a free light/water show at the Bellagio hotel it is so beautiful at night.

Miami what can I say? It was a great time. I went for “Miami Carnival,” a weekend dedicated to Caribbean culture celebrating with parties/fetes, food and culminating in a festive parade. The Parade is very colorful: feathers, glitter, paint and alcohol a DIYer’s dream!

This year’s trip will be to New Orleans! I am excited… to visit Popeye’s Chicken (don’t judge me I heard it is really good down there) follow the hashtag #AvGoesToTheBigEasy for pictures.

Don’t let not having a passport stop you from seeing something different. Go on hop in the car and see Amurrica!
